Digital training Ballymena: practical digital skills for Ballymena teams
Table of Contents
Digital training Ballymena business should leave your team able to run its own website, search, social media and AI tools, taught on your real accounts rather than a demo. ProfileTree delivers that training at your premises, by video call or both, from £350 plus VAT, and much of our work in the borough is funded through Go Succeed.
ProfileTree is a Belfast web design and digital marketing agency, founded in 2011 and based at the McSweeney Centre. We have completed more than 1,000 projects and hold more than 500 Google reviews with a 5.0 rating. Our trainers build client websites, run search programmes and use AI tools in their daily work, and this page covers how our digital training runs for businesses in Ballymena and the wider Mid and East Antrim borough. Our Belfast team Digital training Ballymena business on site or remotely
Ballymena is roughly 30 miles from our office on Henry Place, up the M2 and the A26, so sessions can run at your premises anywhere in the town or the wider borough, at our Belfast office, by video call or as a blend. Most teams choose an on-site opening session, because working through your own website and accounts in the same room is the quickest way to find where people get stuck, followed by remote sessions that are easier to fit around a working week.
On site, all you need is a room, a screen, laptops for participants and access to the accounts we will work in. Sessions can be recorded on request, and the same trainer stays with your team from the first session to the follow-up calls.
Ballymena teams need training built around their own business
Generic online courses teach tools in isolation, with no reference to your customers, your market or the accounts your team will use on Monday. A manufacturer chasing distributor enquiries and a town-centre retailer chasing footfall should not sit through the same course, and in Mid and East Antrim both are common.
Every programme we run starts from your team’s current skills and the outcome the business needs, and is taught on your own website, profiles and analytics wherever possible. The work done in the session stays live afterwards. Where a business wants us to carry on some of the work after training, our SEO for Ballymena businesses and web design for Ballymena businesses pick up where the training stops.
What our digital training covers
Search and the Google Business Profile
SEO training covers how Google ranks pages, how to find the terms your Ballymena customers use, how to write and update pages for them and how to read the results in Google Search Console. It includes managing your Google Business Profile, which decides whether you appear in the map results for searches across Mid and East Antrim, and how AI-generated answers change the way pages should be written.
Social media and content
Platform training across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok teaches your team to plan and produce posts that bring enquiries rather than just reactions, using Canva and short video shot on a phone. For B2B firms we spend more time on LinkedIn, from profile positioning to posts that open conversations with buyers. All of it is organic; we do not teach or recommend paid advertising.
AI tools and safe use
AI training helps your team decide which tools are worth adopting and how to build them into daily work, from drafting content and replying to customers to transcribing meetings and producing reports. We also cover the part most courses skip: what staff should never paste into a public AI tool, how UK GDPR applies when customer data is involved, and how to check generated text before it carries your name. The ICO’s guidance on AI and data protection is the reference point we teach from.
Google Analytics 4 and measurement
Measurement training covers GA4, Search Console and the analytics built into each social platform. Participants learn to set a few meaningful measures, build a report they will keep using and decide from it where time and money go next.
Training for Ballymena’s main sectors
Tourism and events
Accommodation providers, attractions near Slemish and the Glens of Antrim and event organisers need staff who can keep the Business Profile current, answer booking messages quickly, film short video that shows the experience and update one permanent page for each annual event. Training concentrates on those jobs and on reading which posts and pages lead to bookings.
Manufacturing and engineering
Manufacturers rarely need more social posts. Their training concentrates on making technical expertise findable by procurement teams: capability pages written around the terms buyers search, LinkedIn activity from the engineers themselves and enquiry tracking, so the sales team can see which channel produced each quote.
Health and care
Dental practices, physiotherapists, clinics, opticians and care providers need staff who can update treatment pages and prices accurately, reply to reviews without disclosing anything about a patient, and move private questions out of public comments. Training includes how the advertising codes and your professional body’s rules apply to health claims online.
Retail, including firms selling across the border
For shops around the Tower Centre, Fairhill and Broughshane Street, training focuses on the Business Profile, review requests, product pages written in shoppers’ words and social posts that turn interest into a visit. Retailers and wholesalers selling into the Republic learn to keep euro prices on Irish pages and sterling on UK pages, so a Ballymena customer never sees euro prices and a buyer in Dublin never has to convert, and to weigh a separate .ie domain against an Irish section of the existing site.
How we deliver training and what it costs
Training starts from £350 plus VAT and is quoted to the number of sessions, the group size and the subjects covered. A 90-minute session takes around six hours of preparation, because the material is built around your accounts rather than taken from a slide library. Clients in the Republic of Ireland are quoted in euro, and after the skills review you receive options at different price points.
| Format | Best for | Delivery | Outcome | Our recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Workshop | One clear skill gap, such as GA4 reporting | On site or remote | Practical changes made during the session | Start here if one task is holding the team back |
| Team programme | A department building skills across several areas | On site, remote or blended | A capability plan and skills in use | The usual choice for teams taking marketing in-house |
| One-to-one mentoring | Directors and decision makers | Remote or in person | A digital strategy the owner can oversee | Choose it when the owner needs to direct the work rather than do it |
The comparison with a college or accredited course is worth making before you book, because both have a place. A recognised certificate matters for some roles, while most owners booking training want a result they can see in the business.
| Factor | ProfileTree bespoke training | College or accredited course | Our recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Content | Built around your business and goals | A standard curriculum for every attendee | Choose bespoke when the aim is a business result |
| Material | Your live website, profiles and analytics | Worked examples and theory | Bespoke suits teams who will run their own accounts |
| Start date | Within days of the skills review | Term-based enrolment | Bespoke when the need is immediate |
| Qualification | None | A recognised certificate | Choose a college course when the certificate matters to the role |
Ciaran Connolly, founder of ProfileTree, puts the principle simply. ‘Digital training only works when it is connected to real business goals,’ he says. ‘We build programmes around what your business needs to achieve, and we measure success the same way you do.’
How a programme runs from skills review to follow-up
Every programme starts with a review of your current digital activity, your team’s skills and your goals, which shows the gaps before anything is booked and is the right point to check whether council funding applies. We then design the programme: which topics, in what order, over how many sessions and for which staff, splitting the group where experience is mixed so each person is taught at the right level. The sessions use your own website, campaigns and analytics as the teaching material. Afterwards you receive a written action plan, any session recordings, a window for follow-up questions by email and check-in calls to see what the team is using and where it is stuck.
Funding for digital training in Mid and East Antrim
Go Succeed is the free business support service funded by the UK Government and delivered by Northern Ireland’s 11 councils, and Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s business support team runs it locally for businesses that are starting, growing or scaling. ProfileTree mentors deliver sessions through the programme, which is why many of the training programmes we run in the borough cost the business nothing. Eligibility is decided by the council, not by us.
The council also promotes the Digital Transformation Flexible Fund, which offers grants for capital investment in advanced technologies such as AI, automation and data systems. It is a separate scheme for technology purchases and does not fund training on its own, so check with the council which route fits your plans before you book anything.
What clients say about our digital training
These reviews are taken from ProfileTree’s Google Business Profile and are quoted as written. The first comes from mentoring funded by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council through Go Succeed.
‘Gabbi provided us with mentoring as part of the Go Succeed programme, which was kindly provided by Mid and East Antrim Council. She couldn’t have done a better job. She immediately understood what we needed and explained it so clearly, so we can put what she has taught us into practice. She is extremely knowledgeable, patient, kind and helpful.’ Hillmount House
‘Ranel from Profile Tree was an excellent mentor throughout my time on the Go Succeed Programme. Most importantly, he guided me through the process rather than doing the work for me, allowing me to develop the necessary skills to continue independently. I’m now much more confident using Canva, AI tools and various other apps. Ranel also helped me kickstart a more relevant website for my business, which I’ve since launched and already started making sales from. I recently sold out a workshop within 48 hours, simply through my new website and updated marketing strategies on Facebook and Instagram.’ Ann McCarron
‘We recently completed mentoring sessions with ProfileTree and Gabbi and found the experience extremely valuable. The guidance was knowledgeable, practical, and tailored to our business needs. In particular, the sessions covering SEO and AI were eye-opening and gave me clear strategies I can implement straight away. Gabbi explained everything in a way that was easy to understand, while still going into the level of detail needed to make real improvements.’ Michelle Duggan
Questions Ballymena businesses ask about digital training
How much does digital training cost for a Ballymena business?
Training starts from £350 plus VAT and is quoted to the number of sessions and the group size, and a 90-minute session typically needs around six hours of preparation. The total depends on the number of sessions, the size of the group and how much the material is tailored, and the skills review gives you a scoped figure before you commit.
Is digital marketing training worth it for a small business?
It is when the team will use the skills on its own accounts the following week. Training built around your website and profiles pays back through the work staff can then do without outside help, whereas a generic course often leaves them knowing the tools but not how to apply them.
Can Ballymena businesses get funded digital training?
Many can. Go Succeed, delivered by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, provides free mentoring and support for eligible businesses, and the council confirms eligibility directly.
Can the training be delivered at our Ballymena premises?
Sessions run on site anywhere in Ballymena and the wider borough, at our Belfast office, by video call or as a blend. You need a room, a screen and laptops for the participants.
Do our staff need existing marketing experience?
They do not. The skills review shows where each person is starting from, and we group the participants so beginners and experienced staff are each taught at the right level.
How soon will we see results from digital training?
Some changes show straight away, particularly in content, social posting and basic fixes to your website and Business Profile. Returns from search work usually take three to six months, depending on your starting point and the competition in your sector.
