What inspired or motivated you to become a Wedding/Event Planner?
I love creating pretty things and organizing events. After planning my own wedding I realized how much fun weddings are. I started my own business one year after my wedding. It is great doing what you love every day. It honestly doesn't even feel like work, which is the best!
I think that all brides should have a wedding coordinator or designate a person who will be responsible for pulling all details together. Weddings are stressful and the last thing you want to do on your wedding day is to think about centrepieces, favors and timelines.
What special skills do you need to be a successful wedding/event planner?
To be successful wedding planner you definitely need to be organized. Weddings involve so many vendors and aspects that you have to be able to pull them all together. You also have to be a good communicator.
Oh owning a business is by far the best thing! You can make your own decisions, test yourself and just follow your own instincts. You have no boss watching over you so the ability to grow and expand as a professional is endless.
What has been your greatest challenge so far?
My greatest challenge so far has been finances :) As a business owner you really have to keep track of your income and spending. Programs such as PayPal and QuickBooks have helped me tremendously.
Starting a business is very exciting but frightening at the same time. Trust in yourself and follow your heart. Do not listen to people who doubt your abilities. If you believe in yourself and your product you will succeed. "Do what you love" Steve Jobs.
Name one thing that you could not live without in your business.
I would not be able to live without my iMac and iphone. Thank you Steve Jobs!
Most of our brides live out of town. Internet is vital in booking weddings and staying on contact though out planning.
How big a role does Social Media play in your business?
Social Media plays vital role in our business. Thanks to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram we are able to reach millions of brides worldwide.
